URGENT PRAYER REQUEST received on Sunday 18th from our friend Margaret in N'Djamena in the Chad (where she and her husband Celestin are serving the Lord in various exciting ways).
Just wanted to let you know about the situation in Chad at the moment.
Since the elections last Sunday there has been fighting in the North of Chad (a long way away). It's between a rebel group (who want a new government) and government forces. Now the French army has got involved. The fighting is coming nearer N'Djamena and so yesterday the British government and the American embassy advised their citizens to leave Chad as soon as possible by commercial means (ie aeroplane). I didn't see this information on their website until late at night. I've been looking at flights but there are none tomorrow and it's too late today. The rate the fighting is advancing they'll be in N'Djamena soon, so it seems best to stay where I am for now. It’s likely that we’ll lose communications (ie internet and telephone/sms) when the war reaches N’Djamena. Chad has a history of warfare. I’ve been in the country when there have been rebel attacks, but never so close to N’Djamena. Celestin has been in N’Djamena during a rebel attack. It’s not the best place to be. So we ask you to pray for us, our families and friends around us. Pray for Chad and its leaders. Thank you.
FOOTNOTE - Tuesday 20th - the BBC is now reporting that the President of Chad has been killed in the fighting. DO PRAY FOR PEACE AND FOR SAFETY FOR OUR FRIEND MARGARET AT THIS TIME OF GREAT DANGER FOR MANY.
GOOD NEWS re COVID in the UK - in view of the big reduction in cases both locally and nationally, we have restarted Sunday services and Junior Church and our mid week gathering to share and pray.
Thursday April 21st at 10.30 - Informal Time of Sharing and Reflection and Prayer.
SUNDAY APRIL 25th
10.30 am Morning Service (led by Rev David Moss), also Junior Church - ALL VERY WELCOME
In line with Government Rules we need to avoid 'social mixing' within the church. This includes sitting at a distance from others not in our household and wearing face masks. There will still be no hymn singing indoors. Outside the church then groups of up to 6 people may talk together. This is necessary as is it important to take no risks with COVID.
If you plan to come on Sunday please let Ruth know on 01579 350230 (this helps us to arrange the seating in line with the Covid rules).
For the time being the Church buildings will be closed at all other times (except, of course, for any funerals)
We remain available to offer help and prayer. If you would like our help or our prayers - then please click here to leave a message
The displays outside our church buildings shows that, although the buildings are closed the Church is still alive. We are here to pray for, and to help, our community.
On Sundays if you cannot join with us, why not join friends from Truro Methodist Church either at 9.22 (for a service with modern hymns) or at 11.00 for a service with more traditional hymns. For the 9.22 service click here OR click here for the 11 o'clock service (In both cases services can be watched later by clicking the appropriate place above).

Jesus said "Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest.
Become my servants and learn from me. ...You will find rest for your souls." [Matthew 11 v28-29]
Before our Family Service
On Sunday mornings at 10.30 we usually have a Family Service with something for every age including a lively Junior Church. We hope, when it is safe, to be able to resume having services and also tea and coffee and a chance to chat after the service.
Lots of other groups normally meet here: a drop in coffee morning, Knit and Natter, a local History Society, WI and more.
As well as the information on this page, we have a Facebook page which can be viewed by clicking here (provided you have a Facebook account)
